Details:
“Local Country Music Sensation” (Pioneer Press) Brad Burns hails from Happy Camp, CA. His town of 800, home of the Karuk Tribe of CA, and formerly a boomtown of the logging industry, is the inspiration of Brad’s songs about Country, Home, God, Love and Heroes. Brad’s latest release “Wrong Number In Nashville” EP, is a follow up to his recent “Freedom” album and “Freedom’s Call” release.
Brad is a “musical photographer” of events in his own life and those around him. Happy Camp is a very remote area along the beautiful Klamath River in the forests of Northern California. Right in his backyard he has bear, mountain lion, bald eagle, river otter, deer and elk. Working with horses, cows and dogs is part of his every day life. Shotgun and bow are familiar tools. The beauty of God’s creation and this great land is all around.
Country values of self-reliance, hard work, family, God and respect for our Country are the rule rather than the exception here. So it was not surprising that after the September 11 attacks so many young people from this area joined the Armed Forces. Brad has a great desire to join his fellows, contributing what he does best, entertaining.
Brad began songwriting at age 12. His parents recognized his God-given talent and strongly encouraged his music studies. In order to accompany his songs, Brad taught himself to play bass, rhythm guitar, lead guitar, drums and keyboard. He continuously studies songwriting and vocal techniques. He learned the intricacies of digital music recording software, studio performing, designing album art, and ultimately producing record albums.
Brad’s musical development has been an exciting journey fueled by the wide cast of characters here in Happy Camp. Being such a small town, where everyone knows everything about everybody, Happy Camp gave Brad, the songwriter, intimate access to a cast of characters straight from the heart of the American West. Cowboys, Native Americans, gold miners, tourists, alcoholics, sheriffs, game wardens, pastors, doctors, shopkeepers, the lost and the lonely frequent the streets of Happy Camp, the pages of American history, and the themes of Brad’s songs. A voyage through Brad’s songs is a journey through small town America itself….through the eyes of a musical photographer.
