"Give yourself Permission to Relax"
A programme of relaxation
Relaxation is many things to many people.
From a Yogic perspective, ''proper relaxation'' or ''Savasana'' cools down the system.
When the body and mind are continually overworked their efficiency diminishes. Relaxation is nature''s way of re-charging the body. So find a peaceful place where you cannot be disturbed. Leave the stresses and strains of your everyday life at the door with your belongings and ''give yourself permission to relax''.
About Sarah Brooks

Having been both practitioner and teacher of Yoga (Yogawise TM ) and member of the Sivananda Yoga Vedanta Centre, Putney, SW London, I was fortunate enough to be able to take the Sivananda International Yoga Teacher’s Training Course at the Dhawanthari Ashram, Kerala, Southern India in November/December 2002.
At the Ashram we are trained in exactly the same tradition as in ancient times, whereby the student would live, work and study with their teacher (Guru). This system is termed the ‘Gurukula’ (‘Guru’ – teacher ‘Kula’ – home) system. The practise of ‘Guru-parampara’ (Guru to student teaching) maintains the ancient teachings and keeps them a living tradition. You become part of that lineage when you become a yoga teacher.
The Sivananda Yoga Teacher’s Training Course is taught from the personal experience of each of the teachers and according to the teachings that we have been given by our Masters: Swami Sivananda and Swami Vishnu-devananda.
For a long time, I have enjoyed not only the benefits of Yoga, but the benefits of teaching Yoga and in 2003 embarked on the two year Diploma in Yoga Therapy as taught by the Yoga Biomedical Trust based at the Yoga Therapy Centre in Islington, London – among my chosen specialist subjects, I selected Pregnancy and with a love of all things Perinatal (Ante and Post Natal) I also attained the Birthlight Diploma’s in Perinatal Yoga and Baby Massage & Yoga.
In December 2005 I joined Doula UK having attended Michel Odent’s ‘Doula Information Sessions’.
I also hold an ITEC Diploma in Holistic Massage Therapy and The Herts & Essex Academy’s Beautician Certificate.
I am very much in favour of the Complementary Therapy Industry being regulated and overseen correctly – people’s health, well-being and happiness being my primary objective. Bearing this in mind, I am a member of the following organisations:
Embody – The Complementary Therapists Association
The Guild of Professional Beauty Therapists
FEDANT (Federation of Ante Natal Educators)
AIMS (Association of Improvement to Midwifery Services)
I truly hope that I can pass the benefits of my learning along to my clients.
