Details:
Annie Carment is a singer/songwriter/ choral arranger/ community choir ringleader from the Blue Mountains in NSW, Australia.
When she isn''t diverting herself with various careers as a lawyer, university teacher, welfare worker, community organiser and parent/ foster parent of too many children to count, Annie carves out time for her lifelong love of song.
In the 90’s she performed and wrote for women’s acappella groups “Mum’s ‘n Roses” and “Mother Tongue”. Since then she has concentrated on writing and recording her own songs, and teaching/ writing for community choirs.
Her “not for christmas” EP contains three songs for the southern hemisphere season – songs about beaches, holidays, summers, wishing on a star, and hoping for peace in a war-torn world.
“Luciano’s Lullaby” is a lullaby based on the evening wishes of her four-year-old son, and is a song for every night of the year – a song which has been performed by many schools and community choirs and at major event openings.
"(Hoping For) Peace on Earth" is a Christmas song that takes the "peace on earth" slogan seriously with a lyrcial tour of many of those parts of the world where peace is a rare commodity.
Annie won the Blue Mountains choir music award in 2005, the Music Aid International award for best production (Australia) in 2006, and the Music Aid International awards for best production and best songwriter (Australia) in 2007.
A country aesthetic permeates Annie’s songs. They are all recorded and co-produced by John Stuart, also from the Blue Mountains, who weaves a heartfelt texture of guitars through Annie’s recordings.
Annie is in the process of recording an album with John Stuart – a personal and political diary in song. Watch this space in 2008!
