I was born in Springfield, Mo--a graduate of the University of Missouri Kansas City with a BA degree in English.
I taught myself to play the guitar, piano and bass at the age of 17 and helped form a band that produced 100 to 150 shows a year and toured through 22 different states all the way from Los Angeles, California to New York City, New York. I was the main songwriter for the three albums produced in our career--two of which received regular rotation on major radio stations and label interest from Columbia, Reprise, Roadrunner, Epic, Maverick, and Universal.
After the band went its separate way, I began “the music of jeff wood”, writing songs in a more blues/folk/country vein. As a solo artist, I became a business and started all over again--playing bars, restaurants and corporate events all over the Midwest region and was picked out of fifty people across the United States to be on the show “Nashville Star”.
My new album, "Underneath Me" is a collection of songs close to my heart and very personal, but also very fun and up-lifting. Hope you enjoy!
