Thanks for your interest in my musical project.
The Shiitake Project officially commenced in 2002. Unofficially the project has been alive and kicking for many years; jamming with different friends and family members. It will continue to evolve.
For this CD I went out on my own. I felt I needed to capture some of the songs I’ve written over the past year or so. I hope you enjoy it.
Some songs are fiction, other ain''t.
A serious thanks to those who know and have helped.
All tunes are written by Keith Shiner and are shade grown.
Partner In Funk – feeling old, searching for a funky chick and lamenting about a breakup.
Not Ready – understanding you are part of a story you hope is ending real soon; but it’s totally out of your control.
Just Go Away – disguised as a ‘women you best be leaving me’ waltz, it might be about women or it could be about anything that has worn out its welcome.
Want it Like I Do – another song about chicks. The age old tale of two friends taking the next step. I won’t spoil the ending.
Please Me – um https://www.tradebit.com…another song about the opposite sex. I sense an unavoidable theme. This is a song about a positive change in outlook. Spot the double entendre and win a prize!
I Need You – This is an 80’s acoustic rock song about longing.
If I Could – recounting, reflecting and rethinking.
Honest Fun – Finally a song not about gals – a quirky song about fond memories of being a kid, and the lost art of having fun.
Summer Smile – a love song about a girl in a yellow dress and bright blue shoes. Apply within.
Naked and Stoned – wake up and she’s gone; thank you. Love can be blind.
Vindicated – crazy news that helped define a fork in the road.
Rude Love – a song dedicated to all those people who have had to put up with rude people. Sometimes it’s just the right thing to do.
Handmade Sailboat – I wrote this while thinking about the awesome fun I had when I was younger, sailing all summer long.
Shooting the Puck – this is a song about rolling up yer sleeves and getting at ‘er.
Goodbye – a breakup song. Period. End of story.
