"Journey Proud" was his first full length recording project, completed in Nashville in early 1995 and released later that year on Drew''s own Planet Ten records. Some of the players on Journey Proud include bandleader Byrd Burton, who had just come off the road as bandleader for both Dolly Parton and Nanci Griffith and was guitarist and producer of the Amazing Rhytym Aces, "Stick" Davis, also of the Aces and presently with Pure Prarie League, Billy Graham, longtime bandleader for Glen Campbell, Michael Davis of the Dolly Parton band, and Rick Lonow of Burrito Brothers and Johnny Cash fame.
"Journey Proud" has recieved airplay from Arizona to Amsterdam and has withstood the test of time. "Guitar For Sale" arose from Drew''s long recording project for Shel Silverstein, while "''Til The Stars No Longer Shine" has become a wedding and anniversary favorite.
