Louisville''s AAA radio station, 91.9 WFPK, had the 2006 Countdown of the "Top 919 Albums of All Time" ... Brigid Kaelin''s "Keep Your Secrets" was voted 225. Johnny Cash was 224. So close!
Brigid Kaelin was one of 56 semi-finalists in the USA Networks''s 5th Season of Nashville Star. Yee haw! But the best part was playing keys at the finale after-party with John Bohlinger and the Nashville Star House Band.
"Future Mr. Used-to-Be" is an Honor Award Winner in the Great American Song Contest.
Brigid Kaelin is a musician who has been masquerading as a singer-songwriter for the past several years. She put out a solo CD in 2005, which shot to the top of the bestseller list at local record stores for several weeks in a row. The debut CD, Keep Your Secrets, is now in it''s second pressing, and can still be heard on many AAA radio stations around the country. It was a local topseller in 2006 as well.
Her favorite thing -- besides rocking with her band -- is rocking with other people''s bands. Lately, she''s been sneaking down to Nashville, with a subversive plot to bring a little more accordion into the world. Or piano. Or musical saw.
Why would a respected singer-songwriter enjoy being a sideman? You''d have to ask her. But recently, she has played accordion, piano, and various others for Louisville songsters like Peter Searcy and Tim Krekel and danny flanigan. She has been know to sing backup for Johnny Berry and Greg Foresman many more stellar folks like them.
As a solo artist, Brigid has shared the bill with Over the Rhine and Patty Griffin and Dan Bern and Garrison Starr and David Mead and Matthew Ryan and Kim Richey and Jeff Black and Paul Thorn and Stoney LaRue and Luke Doucet and others.
Recently, she has played piano and/or accordion with the amazing musicians Love Jones and Maceo Parker (yes, THE Maceo Parker!) and Kush Griffith and more.
And she knows that you need more accordion in your life. It''s just what you''ve been missing.
Brigid can be found in Louisville, or lurking around the Nashville underground, plotting her first strike.
in another lifetime, she graduated from NYU and produced documentaries for CBS news.
