We are blessed to live in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia--home to all kinds of historical sites, beauty, and Mountain Music. Our family is descended from Scot, English and German ancestors who settled in the region in the 1700’s. Like many folks in these mountains, we have an appreciation and love of traditional string music and gospel singing that came over from the “old country” and eventually became known as Appalachian Music.
In December 2006, our immediate family: my wife, Debbie, and I, our son, Caleb, and daughter, Hannah, discussed the viability of making a music CD. We have been making music together for a while, singing in church, for picnics and such, and decided to leave “A Living Legacy.” We were inspired to move forward with our project honoring and celebrating our family, faith, and friends.
The year, 2007, includes several milestones for our family:
A 25th wedding anniversary. A senior in High School. Six years of home schooling. Our first mission trip together and our first recording project.
We began in the Spring of 2007 at Catawba Sound Studio.
Studio Owner and Chief Engineer, Wayne Weikel, has been a great friend in helping us put this project together. And now after eight months, we have a completed project through a labor of love and commitment!
