Details:
This is the CD from The Shepherds reggae band of the early 90''s out of San Diego, CA. Walter St. Clair was the lead singer and songwriter of the group that unfortunately disbanded in early 1995. The Shepherds were the top reggae band of the time due to their all original material, full ten piece band, and weekly roots performances at many of San Diego''s top nightclubs. The Shepherds classified their music as "roots reggae" due to the slower, hypnotic rhythms they were presenting, rather than because of ties to Rastafarian beliefs. That said, The Shepherds also delivered quite a bit of danceable reggae for the people as well. This album/CD delivers a nice mix of both tempos and may be the reason it sold out of its initial pressing of 1500 CDs in only a couple months. The band called it quits soon thereafter (wouldn''t ya know it) and never had the opportunity or purpose really to reprint this great CD. FINALLY, CD Baby comes along with its Digital Distribution program. I have received MANY inquiries about getting ahold of this CD somehow from old fans and responded that this would be the only way, and that day has come. I hope all those looking for it have found it and the tunes take you back to that glorious time in SD, if just for a moment. One Love.
