An Introduction.
Death before Dancing is a project started by Christine and John Christian in early 2004.
Their first year was stormy to say the least. Inadequate living conditions, constant miscommunications, and a lack of funds, left the project heading nowhere. Rather than growing more and more apathetic toward one another, the couple decided to convert the experiences into sound. In a small studio apartment in Manhattan, with no recording experience, a guitar, bass and mic, construction began on the first record.
The process from start to finish was inspirational to both. Christine and her overflowing determination drove him into structure and completion, where as Johnny''s punk sensibility, relaxed her to better conceptualize. Two separate personalities began to die and -- Death before Dancing -- was born.
In the next few months they played shows at CBGBs, Rare, and Sin-e in NYC, all while compiling, mixing, and mastering the 14 tracks that comprise their first record.
In June 2005 Death before Dancing relocated to L.A. for a change in pace and to work on the art concepts for the record and this site. While in L.A., they decided to form Db4D records/publishing in order to ensure public releases of their work.
The debut record Endtime, the first year together translated into sound, is ''here''.
