Grammy-nominated singer, Kate Hart created "Detroit Women" based on the successful group "Seattle Women." Seattle Women were pulled together for one show in Seattle and still going strong 18 years later. Kate has returned to Detroit and formed this all-star revue with the top women singers in the Metro-Detroit area.

Collectively the women in this group have been nominated and/or the recipients for over fifty-regional/international music awards and featured on over 300 recordings.

In 1990 Kate signed with the prestigious label, Biograph Records, and released her first album. She signed a management agreement with Dick Waterman (Who directed such notables as Bonnie Raitt, Muddy Waters, Buddy Guy and Son House). She has been nominated for over fifteen awards, including the GRAMMY award for "Best Blues Recording", four WC Handy Blues Awards, two NAMA awards, recipient of four Washington State Blues Awards and nominated this year for five Detroit Music Awards. In 1995 Kate received the King County Women''s Leadership Award. In addition to creating and producing Seattle Women/Detroit Women in R&B she has appeared with Roy Orbison, B.B. King, Leon Russell, Bo Diddley, Etta James, Koko Taylor, Charlie Musselwhite, Joe Louis Walker, Mary Wells, Savoy Brown, Lydia Pense, Booker T and the MG''s, Queen Ida, Dorothy Moore, Phillip Walker, Big Time Sarah, and Terrence Simien.

VALERIE BARRYMORE

The "Queen of Funk" has received six Detroit Music Awards while fronting the Steve Sommers Band. Valerie has toured the U.S., Japan, Hong Kong, Singapore and Canada. While in Japan, Valerie was featured at Clubs PePelomoco and ViVi. Returning to the Detroit area, Ms. Barrymore has been a favorite at festivals, clubs and state fairs. She has appeared with Betty Lavette, Midnight Star, The Contours, The Ojays, Morris Day & the Time and Gladys Knight. Born and raised in Detroit, she attended Michigan Christian College, where she was often chosen as a featured vocalist.

ELENA PAPILLO

This award winning 16 year old''s background already includes 13 theatrical productions and international performances. She is the featured artist for the Diabetes Association and was the winner of Apollo Night, The Kiwanis Music Festival, The Canadian and the Composers Trophy. Ms. Papillo has received scholarships in theater and music. In addition, she has been featured singing the National Anthem for various sports events. The recipient of several 2004 Detroit Music Awards, Elena is in negotiations for management with Elton John collaborator and legendary Motown producer, Steve Trudell.

STACIA PETRIE

Stacia has just released her third CD once again garnering international acclaim. Other honors include being a finalist in the prestigious Kerrville Folk Festival. She has been featured on Carey Carlson''s "Over Easy". Stacia has won numerous awards in songwriting which include top honors in the 1996 Mid-Atlantic Song Contest, as well as honors in numerous national competitions. The last two years Stacia was nominated for over six Detroit Music Awards. She has just finished touring and fronting High Flying Bird.

Born and raised in Helena, Arkansas the home of the King Biscut Blues Festival, Lady T (alias Dirty Old Woman, Bo Hawk Grind Lady, Detroit Lady Cobra of the Blues) began her career singing in the First Baptist Church. Lady T has performed at the African American Festival and the Montreaux Jazz Festival with Bobby Blue Bland, Robert Penn Blues Band, Willie D. Warren, Danny Blue, (Motown greats) Joe Hunter, Rudy Robinson, (her godmother) Alberta Adams, Pricilla Price, The Pocket Band, The Hasting Street Blues Band and the Curtis Sumpter Project. Recently Lady was nominated for several Detroit Music Awards including "Best R&B/Blues Vocalist".

KATHI MCDONALD

Kathi has sung on over three hundred and fifty gold/platinum albums. Ms. McDonald was an Ikette for Tina Turner and took Janis Joplin''s place in Big Brother & the Holding Company. She has sung with Willie Dixon, Dr. John, Buddy Guy, Elton John, Joe Cocker (Mad Dogs & Englishmen Tour), The Rolling Stones, The Who, Leon Russell, Santana, Sly Stone, Tower of Power, The Pointer Sisters, Robert Cray, Rita Coolidge, Delaney & Bonnie, Brian Auger, The Doobie Brothers and Nils Lofgren to name a few. "Mac" has been honored several times with "Best Female Blue Vocalist" by the Washington Blues Society. Currently, Ms. McDonald''s is working with rock luminary Nick Gravinites and Long John Baldry.

RHONDA BANTISMBA

Rhonda''s career has spanned across storytelling, acting, public speaking, dance and singing. She has been featured in "For Colored Girls", "The Wiz", "The Colored Museum", "Zoo Man and the Sign", "Inhlanzi Ishelwe Amanzi", "Avenue X: The a cappella", and "River Dreams". Her emphasis has been to combine music with other art forms creating new and exciting projects. Rhonda is currently in the blues musical "We Are Not Good Girls" and is the newest member to Detroit Women in R&B. She too has been nominated for several Detroit Music Awards.

She has performed all over the world including Africa. Live shows have included Sugar Ray Leonard Roast in Los Angeles, theatrical production "Beehive", several Detroit Montreaux Jazz Festivals with Wendell Harrison''s Lickin'' Stick Band and Italy''s Toty Viola, featured with Ras Kente and The Take No Prisoners Posse at the Bob Marley Festival, She - Funk member of Parlet and The Brides of Funkenstein, Children''s Theatre Group production "Babes Alive". Also, Detroit Institute of Art''s live CD, released, 2001, "Nomads-Unity Live"! as well as vocalist at various Caribe, Reggae & African World Festivals around the globe. She has appeared with Kokayi, Azymuth (Brazil), Ms. Diane Reeves, Ms. Abbey Lincoln, Susan Hadjopoulos, Kareem Baaqui Group, The Big Picture Band, The Daniel Warren Band, Sting, Stihiem Band, Tim King and Song Kings, Motown''s Finis Henderson (toured with Richard Pryor in 1983), Richard Marx, Eddie Money, The Glenn Family (Garry Glenn writer for Anita Baker), backing vocals for Teena Marie, Carly Simon and Cyndi Lauper. Currently she is singing with King Sweat and Distorted Soul.

TERRIE LEA

The Texas blues singer brings her countrified sound to the Women''s show. Terrie grew up singing with her father who played rhythm guitar with Ferlin Husky, The Statler Brothers, Skeeter Davis and Buck Owens. She continued singing at festivals and regional dates. Through a chain of events, Terrie connected with Motown''s legendary producer, Clay McMurray. This led her to recording with Loretta Lynn''s band and singing at the Smokey Mountain Jubilee in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee. She continues working with legendary writer/producer Charlie Craig and working with her own band Terrie Lea and the Wild Mustangs. She is the 2004 recipient of the Detroit Music Award for best country singer.
