Gospel Music: Daz Patterson''s New Album
Covers the spectrum of Gospel and Christian Music
Within the field of gospel music, there exists a small number of extraordinarily anointed artists who are known within the field as artists'' artists. The highly acclaimed gospel songwriter and arranger; gospel musical stageplay writer, director, and producer; and Christian Evangelist Daz Patterson is one such artist.

Gifted with a seven-octave soprano voice as her instrument, and anointed with the spirit to serve as HIS instrument, audiences and producers alike acknowledge that there are few known and/or unknown artists who can deliver a gospel song like Daz Patterson. Her fourth and most recent album, Through The Storms And Rain... (Adamant Records, 2002), confirms the veracity of such a statement.

In the lead track, "Through the Storms and Rain," this highly esteemed evangelist uses traditional gospel melodies and lyrics to describe, both verbally and musically, her 13-year reprieve from breast cancer, its reappearance, and how the strength of her relationship with God brought her through both "storms." All who have ever experienced a "storm" will experience tears by the time this song has been completed.

In another moving traditional gospel song, "Where Do The Strong Go To Cry?" Ms. Patterson pays tribute to those persons who exist in each family, each house of worship, and each place of employment, who always serve as sources of strength for others. But, Daz Patterson reminds us, that there is someone, whose name is Jesus, who can support the strong as well as the weak.

In the songs, "I Saw the Cross" and "All Praises and Honor to God," Ms. Patterson shifts from traditional gospel to contemporary gospel sounds. Using the syncopated beats and major and minor chords often associated with B.B. King and other classical Blues singers, Ms. Patterson will have Christians and non-Christians alike snapping their fingers in praise and moving their feet in holy dance.

In the songs, "Witness" and "Hallelujah, Praise the Lord," Ms. Patterson introduces two praise and worship songs. "Witness" utilizes rhythms often associated with the COGIC faith, while "Hallelujah, Praise the Lord" slows down and signals the listener that it is time to introspectively review his or her personal reasons for offering praises anew to God.

In "Love Is," an emerging genre of gospel music is introduced - the gospel love song. This highly melodious piece is reminiscent of Corinthians, as Ms. Patterson reminds us that our love of God must be reflected in our love of our fellow man. Then, in "Jesus For Evermore," a reggae/calypso flavor that brings visions of white, sand-filled beaches and waters that remain an unpolluted blue, is introduced. "Rejoice" is another song of praise and "He is Worthy" is an emotionally-rendered traditional piece. This album is surely one that any fan of gospel or Christian music will wish to add to his or her collection.
