Details:
In the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains, mid-eighteen hundreds, there was a ragged band of outlaw pranksters and thieves. Sons and daughters of Indian, Irish, Scottish and African descent, they were notorious for their music and corn-whiskey, but even more for their efforts to thwart the “progress” of the railroad and “civilization” into their beloved little corner of the world. They became infamous for stealing railroad ties and steel and redistributing the materials to the impoverished immigrants in the backwater settlements. In time, most were hunted down and dispatched. Some fled to Canada and some walked the Trail of Tears. Some moved west across the deserts, to California, and some are said to have stayed behind, hidden in the green mountains and valleys to this day. ..
The Plankrunners draw from a tradition of ancient Celtic tunes filtered through the soil and waters of the new world, fused with the electricity of punk, concrete jungle rhythms, the auld soul in worn shoes, clear-eyed and in earnest, socially aware and spiritually conscious music to inspire movement of feet, hips and minds. Goes well with libation, love-making and war.
