The sophomore CD of jenny''s tribe is anything but novice. The same line-up as "Bedroom Session", same engineers and production company, but the sum total is worlds above.
Opening with a New Age muse from bassist, Jamie Lonto, you get suckered into thinking you may use this thing to mediate, but the ripping guitar solo from Jenny sets you straight. "Magic Words", a song about those words we all long to hear, is right up there with the best rock grooves you''ve heard, particularly from this kid.
The third track, "Sweet Tension" is truly a sweet, latin-inspired number all about the anxiety around that tension before you know if the one you love loves you.
"Gravity" is an unusual foray into happy territory that also breaks out with a quasi country western feel (too bad, Jenny didn''t have violin on this one), almost as unlikely as the crunch-guitar harmonics that spike "Calling Out", a second surprising run into Happy Land for this songwriter.
"Grateful" and "Floating Away", two searing piano tunes, bring us right back to where we''ve come to expect Jenny''s lyricism to shine.
Jenny''s strong song writing are the main attraction from the past, but the instrumentation and arrangement on this CD really make you remember these tunes.
