I was born and raised in Houston, Texas to a single mother of 3 girls. As the eldest of the 3, I experienced so many unforeseen incidences that a young girl should never be exposed too.
After becoming an adult my life was going in directions that I was not pleased with. I tried to ease my pain by trying to help others soothe theirs. While working in the healthcare field I thought I had found my peace. But becoming a young mother of a special needs child and 3 other little ones my peace and happiness soon began to fade.
I emerged myself in church seeking to fill the empty void that was consuming my life. There I found a peace and calm, yet the longing was still there. In the midst of my confused state of mind, I still managed to fall in love and marry my husband. Now without all the distractions flowing through my life I became a stay at home mother of now 6 children.
Without warning, the loneliness, pain and emptiness began to creep back into my conscienceous. Poetry, being the only way to express my feelings, I then began to put pen to paper and that’s when Lady Kool Kat was born.
Now I feel like Muhammad Ali with his gloves of steel, fighting for his life. But my gloves of choice are a pen and paper and a microphone to spin the words of Lady Kool Kat.
