Details:
Kersche - (Kér-sxe) - proper name. Word that had origin in a studio night, where names were set loose. Apparently a meaningless word. Involved in the design of the record and in the aesthetic of the sound, gaining crystal form, polished diamond, transparent.
Serious music.
That’s what Norton''s new record is all about. A new record. It’s like we were dealing with an unidentified object, nowadays. A record. An album of new songs where knowledge, experiences are applied, where a period of the life of this musicians is now registered and documented forever.
It seems that this record is all about arguing a current principle. People do not have time to hear albums. They consume singles, photographs, some interviews and eventually a concert here or there. Breaching the trend, this record is worth to be heard. From the beginning till the end. Kersche is the first album with this line up. It''s their second original album. Since the first - Pictures from our Thoughts (2004) - They released a remix album – Frames- Remixes & Versions (2005).
Four young guys who make music for the World to hear it. They are from Castelo Branco, Portugal. The songs come, somehow, in glaciar forms, cold, but incredibly involving in the making, in the melodies, even in the melodica which sounds more melodic than ever, in the voice that sends the words to first plan, in the sounds that appear and disappear without leaving a farewell note. The songs flow between them. It''s a record to be heard, with no rush. There is even more strength in the guitars making us turn a page into a cleaver rock, paying attention to aesthetics which was the strongest feature of the band. From the words sang phrases arise aiming to intimate destinies, with broad perspectives – "…the most beautiful view " – as they sing on the second song.
You can also find some guests / friends who joined them. Nuno Gonçalves from The Gift, Filipa Venâncio from Jaguar, João Valente from Starlux, Manuel Simões and João Santos – the last one joins Norton on stage as a guest musician. All through the record they enter and leave without being noticed significant changes. As if they were invited to come aboard Norton''s style - Unique.
Eduardo Ricciardi assumed the production and mixes of all the record. The production is calm, subtle and elegant and it lets the band shine. Before the finishing process the songs went to New York, where they were mastered at The Lodge Studios by Emily Lazar.

“Sometimes meanings get lost among the crowds, between busy and empty streets, between past and dreams, between the silence played that echoes in a summer night… There are people who search a meaning in the magic that music brings to life…”(Norton)
