Details:
It''s not pretty. It''s not sweet. It''s not easy. It is ''The Monkey Face''. You won''t like them if you want an easy ride. You won''t like them if you''re after a quick buck. They''re not M.O.R. They''re not easy listening. The songs will slap you in the face and they''re honest.

The songs have a brooding mood. They have grit and the band has energy. You might embrace it. You might not. But one thing you can do with ''The Monkey Face'''' is sink your teeth into it. You can kick it around and it will keep shape. ''The Monkey Face'' is robust. The music will get inside you and won''t let you go and you’ll walk away remembering their songs.

The Monkey Face have released their debut album and their EP ‘Paparazzi’ is to be released online in the next two months

For The Monkey Face, it''s all about the song. If there isn''t a song there, there isn''t anything.

The Monkey Face are a duo. So you expect a bluesy kind of thing right. That what they all seem to do. Wrooooong. And they aren''t a nice acoustic duo!! Wrooooong.

What we got was indie rock two piece. Felt like a trio. The guitarist was making cool rock sounds and the drummer was whacking the bejesus out of his kit. So much so that he had to keep fixing things up after every song.

The guitarist/singer has a good voice and his playing counterpointed the drumming. Great voice and the tunes ruled. A breath of fresh air for a two piece. Can''t recommend them highly enough.

Both of the members exuded confidence and they have a clear and coherent sound. Music is all about the songs these days and The Monkey Face have some great songs.

The Monkey Face impressed on their last gig. And the duo didn''t let the growing crowd down. Great big Marshall stack and drums. The drummer holds it all down and the singer/guitarist lets it all go. They don''t play bluesy material like most duos. They rock it along. Not too heavy......The singer has a good clear voice. Confident delivery and good material. The crowd enjoyed the show....

In the modern age of ultra hyped music acts every new band seems to be touted as having “an edge” yet when you actually get around to listening, all you find is bland.

So when everything is over-cooked how do you actually find music with some content?

Enter The Monkey Face. They are an Australian duo with a really great combination of musicality and grit. It’s very hard to find that balance of dirt and finesse that really makes a band shine but The Monkey Face have really mastered the art of combining great melodies, first class production values and that touch of nasty grit that really sets them apart from the crowd. The duo consists of Adam Navin: Vocals and guitar and Stephen Allred: Drums. Listening to them gives you that slightly uneasy yet completely compelling feeling of exhilaration that only music with real content can inspire. If you’ve got something to say, you have to say it with a bit of umph! These guys never fall into the trap of going where you expect them to go and whole experience of their music is elevated as a result.

From a production standpoint, their music is of an extremely high standard without ever becoming overly processed or too glossy. The drums are solid and assured, the guitars bite in all the right places and the vocals stand proud in the mix to deliver the lyrics in a heartfelt style but with all the menace and swagger of any of the great fromtmen you can think of.

Music is meant to get the blood flowing and not just be a background noise for the iPod generation so put down your playstation console and check out The Monkey Face, this music is just the edge you have been looking for!

The Monkey FacePaparazziIt''s hard to believe this is not a 5 piece big venue Rock band because the sound created is not just mind filling it''s concert hall filling. Strength comes from everywhere. This song is a show stopper. When this Australian band say they are not M.O.R. they are being honest but when they say they are "rough round the edges" I think they may be telling ''porkies'' - JAWZ 2007 added to station 5/13/2007 2:37:39 PM
