Hope. Hardwork. Raw talent. All of these things have saved Dayton, OH''s the Story Changes on more than a few occasions. Surviving nearly every possible pitfall a touring band goes through in their worst nightmare (i.e. all of their gear stolen, lineup changes, flaming vans), the band has managed to always bounce back, move forward, and achieve success. On their debut full length album "Last Night a Rock Band Saved My Life" (Future Destination Records), the band succeeds in bringing all that emotion and hard work together into 11 well crafted songs. Some deal with getting your heart broken, some with being the heart breaker. All are about hope. The reoccuring theme throughout the album is one of coming into your own and finding yourself buried deep within. The album was recorded in early 2005 in Arizona with Jamie Woolford (the Stereo, Let Go, the Format) recording and producing.
Formed in early 2003, the band evolved from singer/songwriter Mark McMillon''s previous band Rod who''s full length album on Glue Factory Records "the Story Changes Every Day" helped secure them a nationwide following. The Story Changes recorded 5 songs for their debut release as a split cd with Sparechange. The track "Hockey Temper" was featured on the Scout Dot Net and helped propel and early interest in the band. Past artists who roused attention from the site and have went on to success include Taking Back Sunday, Fall Out Boy, and Motion City Soundtrack. "If you are a fan of Alkaline Trio, Jimmy Eat World, and the Foo Fighters, you need to give the Story Changes a shot." - the Scout Dot Net. After a short stint on a smaller label, the split cd was released on Confined Records. The label''s solid distribution increased the band''s availability in most outlets, retail sites, along with i-tunes.
The Story Changes'' has spent 7 months of each of the last 2 years on the road and has no plans on letting up. Their diverse, yet straightforward sound has enabled them to share the bill with a wide variety of artists on tour, a virtual who''s who of up and coming artists like Hawthorne Heights, Motion City Soundtrack, Limbeck, Reggie and the Full Effect, and Roses are Red as well as a recent full U.S. tour main support slot with the Slackers (Epitaph/Hellcat records).
"Dead to Me" is a collection of rare tracks and B-Sides. The Story Changes will release their new album "The Way of the Dinosaur" in July on Future Destination Records
