Details:
Like many rock bands, The Sorrys began in the basement. Specifically, it was Trevor Millett’s Halifax basement, where the vocalist and lyricist began writing songs with guitarist Jim Cameron in 2001. They were soon joined by bassist Richard Herbert (in 2003) and drummer Steve Baur (in early 2004).
The Sorrys keep it simple: vocals, guitar, bass, drums, and beer. In 2005, The Sorrys began recording with Charles Austin in Halifax, with the first session yielding a record-setting 22 songs over two nights. Recording was finished at Echo Chamber Audio in the summer of 2006. Todd Tobias of Ohio, who produced the final two Guided by Voices records and Robert Pollard’s two most recent solo releases, mixed the 14 tracks selected for the record.
In August 2006, Exclaim! Magazine had this to say about the song “Druthers":
“Droll, lackadaisical lyrics over super catchy choruses pay worthy homage to Guided by Voices and Pavement. Indifferent yet vastly different, this praiseworthy pop sticks out like a much-needed sore thumb.”
