The "Ray Oram Chamber Jazz Onsombo" was conceived with the idea of playing and recreating the “Cool West Coast” sound of some of the great small jazz bands of the 1950''s: Gerry Mulligan, Benny Golson, Horace Silver, Miles Davis, Marty Paich etc. The name onsombo comes from the combination of ensemble and combo. Members of the octet are:
Leader & tenor sax: Ray Oram - Ray has played in the bands of “Tex” Beneke, Bob Crosby, Doc Severinson and Ray McKinley, recorded with Chubby Checker & Frankie Avalon and worked on shows with Phyllis Diller, Vic Damone, Dionne Warwicke and Sonny & Cher.
Writer & arranger: Condit Atkinson - Connie played with the great pianist Bill Evans for seven years, in several symphony orchestras and jazz bands and to date has published over 200 compositions and arrangements including arrangements for the legendary trombonist Art Sares.
