HISTORY OF THE HOTNESS:
Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Marianne Pillsbury writes punky pop-rock songs with a raw-yet-sweet vibe, hook-laden melodies and witty, sometimes bratty, lyrics. Think: Liz Phair meets The Rolling Stones or Juliana Hatfield fronting The Pixies.
Her former band, The Marianne Pillsburys (Sandy Brockwell on bass, Mitch Distefano on guitar and Dawn McGrath on drums), brought her songs to life with an edgy punk-pop vibe a la Blondie, The Blake Babies and Elastica.
In April 2005, the band released a 3-song promo CD called The Hot EP produced by Roger Greenawalt (Ben Kweller, Ben Lee). The EP captures even more of the raw-yet-sweet brattiness that seems to be Marianne Pillsbury''s formula for success. It also pays tribute to her all-time-favorite artist with a cover of the Prince classic "When You Were Mine".
**For all you Digital-Only Freakazoids…tracks from The Hot EP will eventually be available for download from iTunes and other digital distributors.**
