Originally from Dharwad, Karnataka, Nachiketa Sharma was introduced to music by his parents. He undertook his formal training first with Shri B. N. Simha and then with Shri B. Hanumantachar, both in Madras. He then underwent a rigorous period of training with Padmabhushan Pt. Basavraj Rajguru. A software engineer by profession, Nachiketa resides in the San Francisco Bay Area, where he runs the Rajguru Sangeet Vidyaniketan school of music as well as pursues the study of music.
