Growing up between her native Puerto Rico and her adoptive home of Minnesota, Christina Cáceres blends together musical traditions that cast her voice into an eclectic genre. Although she does not stray too far from her Caribbean roots, and the tradition of the Puerto Rican sonero, her unique take on salsa and other tropical music is highly individual. Trained at the University of Minnesota in both classical and jazz vocal styles, miss Cáceres has been a valuable asset in many salsa groups throughout Minneapolis and St. Paul. Along with being a mainstay in this scene, she also leads her own group, Zafiro, including renowned Cuban pianist and music director Viviana Pintado. Her impact on the salsa/tropical scene has led to the accolade of being voted Best Female Vocalist by entertainment magazine Vida y Sabor, and also the honors of singing the national anthem at both the Minnesota Timberwolves and Minnesota Twins games. Currently, Christina is working on a full length recording in collaboration with members of the Spanish Harlem Orchestra, who also assisted in the production of her recently released single, a dazzling version of Lalo Rodriguez''s classic 1970''s hit, "Tu No Sabes Querer". This record will also include production assistance with arrangements and original material from Minneapolis-based producer Joe from J1productions, and Viviana Pintado. Hard at work with recording, with management help from the legendary Viera family of Puerto Rico, Christina can be found gigging with Zafiro and a host of other diverse projects in the area. With her open mind and vast talent, this singer has most recently established herself as a figure in the Brazilian music scene in the Twin Cities as well, holding down steady gigs with Ticket To Brazil and Banana Brazil.
