Mucio Aquino, a native of Brazil and residing in New England for almost 20 years, has had influences of jazz and funk, (Stan Getz, Dexter Gordon, Miles Davis) and specially music from his native country with its exquisite rhythms. (Milton Nascimento, Gilberto Gil, Tom Jobim) to name a few.
Since 1999, Mucio Aquino has dedicated most of his part time composing. Through his dedication, the album ‘Search’ emerges with 8 of the artist’s original songs.
In August/September of 2006, Mucio Aquino had the privilege of recording in the beautiful Rio de Janeiro – Brazil, with very talented musicians. Amidst them was Zeca Barros (Berklee College of Music – BA in Arranging, orchestration and movie soundtracks) producing and arranging.
This album carries rich and varied rhythms that range from Samba Gafieira to forró funk, jazz to ballads and waltz and it also reflects the talents of Brazilian musicians in the rhythm section; the richness of a Quintet horn section (Cafezeira, Zé Firmino); Quartet horn section (Tchutchuca); and the charm and beauty of a 6 Violin and 4 Cello ensemble (Loneliness, Love search, Good dreams Nathaniel and Sad Eyes).
Each song is unique and expresses the sensibility of this artist. His life story is unfolded in each track through every note he plays.
