LD and the Blind Dates

Lisa Deaton sings. It started out in church, where she still sings regularly, but she has also performed in all sorts of settings - with old-time string bands, an Appalachian/Irish trio, and various duo''s. LD won''t hesitate to cross the ocean to sing a ballad or two, having traveled to Ireland and the British Isles to perform with the Georgia Mudcats and Steve Hicks. Other musical credits include singing with The Solstice Sisters, Womenfold, and Mulligan Stew. In keeping with the Dates, she tends to select from a generous range of musical influences from Emmylou Harris to Bonnie Raitt as well as various standards and spirituals. Will LD rate the Dates? Only to tell you that they are all Dream Dates. Though she''s not quite sure what they see in her, she recognizes their visionary abilities. Truth is indeed stranger than fiction.

Marty Nix is an amazing musical chameleon who makes himself right at home with any crowd f pickers. You can take him anywhere. You''ll want to take him everywhere. His early influences include Chet Atkins and Steve Morse; he embraces the work of many other guitarists such as: Mark Knopfler, Bill Mize, and Alex DeGrassi. His familiarity and ease with all kinds of music, from blues to bluegrass, rock-a-billy to rock''n''roll, allows him to engage in musical athletics enjoyed by many, but performed by few. The Frigidairz, the Stickshifts, and the Eclectic Elements are just a few of the bands through which Marty Flexes his musical muscle. A fine composer, Marty has created over one hundred instrumental songs for guitar. As a Blind Date, Marty will arrive lookin'' long and lean, hat cocked over one eye, and take you to hear some swingin'' band in a happenin'' joint with soul food. Oh yea.

Jimmy Wooten intuitively knows when to be smooth or bluesy and unruly. As a guitarist, he will follow you into anything and everything. He not only masters the mood of any musical selection, he raises the roof on your wildest expectations. Unwilling to be outdone by any other Blind Date, Jimmy composes tunes and lyrics, too. Jimmy''s songs have been recorded by Moe Bandy, David Ball, and Paul Brandt, whose gold album, "Calm Before the Storm" boasts a Jimmy Wooten original, "All Over Me". Jimmy''s previous band incarnations include opening acts for the likes of Ricky Van Shelton, Ernest Tubb, Reba McIntire and because of this, he has played in some groovy places like Chastain Park and Hi-Fi Buys Amphitheatre. As a Blind Date, Jimmy really cooks. Sometines, he even ventures into the kitchen. Oh my.

Tommy Dean is truly in a league of his own. His bass belts blues, swing, jazz, soul, rock''n''roll and sometimes even bluegrass - and he''s got a voice that could sing you into. . . almost anything. He writes equally as well, having had tunes released by Joe Walsh, Joe South, Tinsley Ellis and Billy Joe Royal. While working with bands such as Thermos Greenwood and the Colored People, Sunbelt Millionaires, Georgia Satellites, and the League of Decency, Tommy has performed all over the South-eastern Seaboard. Not only has he played sessions in Atlanta, Nashville, Memphis, Bearsville, N.Y., but he''s played in London, too. The Tommy Dean version of a Blind Date includes traveling incognito (those dark glasses are ever so handy) to a lovely little vineyard in the mountains complete with red wine and dark, dark chocolate; oh the good life.
