Mark Murray and Danny Garrigan-Byerly have here created a wonderful work of art that is primarily influenced by the Native genre.
From the liner notes:
"There have been many days I have spent walking through the woods, finding myself over and over again in how the trees grow, in how the streams speak in the tongue of Nature, and how the sun does move across the horizon, measuring time. I have loved the world then and have forgotten all the transparencies of fortune and time. Now I am a man of thirty some years and my heart beats to the music of creation. Now I am touched with madness, with greed, with the fire that burns until I am all consumed. What is this life that I am witness to? Why can I no longer think unless those thoughts be stolen from me? These are the questions that I ask and expect to find no answers to in this life or the next, for it is only the mystery that I must experience... that is what has been given to me and that is what I must feed myself upon so that I may survive and not perish into darkness. And so back to the woods I have disappeared time and time again, climbing mountains, swimming in the lakes and the ponds, sitting quietly so that I may remember who it is that I have become or who I am becoming. The stream of life courses through me... I am witness to strange eclipses of body and soul... I am at one moment blissful and at the next I feel as if the world is some sordid dream from which I will never escape. What is this existence, I ask you, my reader? And I would bet that you would not be able to answer me, for the answer evades all of us... it is elusive, like the water that cannot be held for long in neither a child nor a man''s cupped hands....
And there are birds that chirp in the forest where I now live... they are as alive as me, with a consciousness that teems with activity, for how else could their songs be so rich, so magnificent when the sun rises until the sun sets, after a rain fall, or marking the changes of each season. I would hope that my song might be so sweet as one of the morning birds-- their cries sharp and piercing; a warning and a song as well."
