April Showers, Flute
A native of New Jersey, she studied with Francis Blaisdell and received her BM degree from New England Conservatory where her teachers were Jame Pappoutsakis and Lois Schaefer. She also studied with Maurice Sharp, John Heiss and Leone Buyse. She has appeared as a soloist with the Garden State Symphony, M.I.T. Symphony, Thayer Symphony Orchestra, and is a former member of the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra. Ms. Showers has been Principal Flutist with the Thayer Symphony Orchestra since 1983 and is a member of the WIndhammer Chamber Players. She has been on the faculty of the Thayer Performing Arts Center, in So. Lancaster, Massachusetts since 1980 and a part-time teacher in the Nashoba School District for the past 18 years.
Kathleen Corcoran, Guitar
Ms. Corcoran received her early musical training in Worcester, Massachusetts, where she studied with New England Conservatory''s Robert Paul Sullivan. She is a graduate of Clark University and the University of Arizona, where she received a research fellowship to the Bodleian Library in Oxford, England for her study of the baroque guitar manuscript compiled by Henri Francois de Gallot (1660). Ms. Corcoran has studied with Thomas Patterson and Neil Anderson and has attended masterclasses with Emilio Pujo in Cervera, Spain. An active teacher and performer in the Worcester area since 1987, she has served on the faculties of the Bancroft School, Anna Maria College, and the Joy of Music Program. As a member of the Abbot Chamber Players, she has performed throughout New England and was featured with the ensemble on WGBH Radio. Also an arts administrator, she is Executive Director of the Thayer Symphony Orchestra.
Roy Imperio, Piano
Recognized for his exciting solo playing and brilliant ensemble work, Philippine-born pianist, Mr. Imperio is one of the area''s most sought after accompanists and chamber musicians. As pianist for the Windhammer Chamber Players, he has also given numerous concerts as soloist or accompanist throughout the U.S., Canada, and the Far East. He has appeared as a highly acclaimed soloist with the Thayer Symphony Orchestra, the Andrews University Orcheatra, and the Metro-Manila Symphony Orchestra. Upon completion of the BM and MM degrees from the University of the Philippines and Andrews University, he pursued further piano and chamber music masterclasses with his most influential teacher, Menahem Pressler at Indiana University. Teaching piano for more than two decades, he is on the piano faculty of the Thayer Performing Arts Center of Atlantic Union College in So. Lancaster, Massachusetts. Mr. Imperio arranged and composed the trios for the Bulfinch Players.
