"Bit By Bit" is the first release by one of the founding members of REwire, first formed in 2000 by Chad Bishop and Dan Levey. Chad and Dan made an album called "Eclectric" in 2001 that was sold independently on https://www.tradebit.com. When Chad went back to his Band "Idiot Stare," Dan kept REwire and recorded the eleven tracks that now appear on this album.
"Bit By Bit" is an Electronic/Industrial album filled with heavy synthesizer textures, hard driving beats and twisted, biting lyrics. Influences range from Hard Rock, Drum n Bass, Techno, IDM and Heavy Metal. Such a wide variety of vintage and new equipment was used to give each song it''s own sonic character.
The first song, "I See Red" is a fast tempo DnB song with an industrial edge. "The Wretch Machine" features the sounds of an all vacuum tube based synthesizer and tells of it''s creators and "Bring Em On" is an Acid based song featuring a famous political line. The title song "Bit By Bit" could be considered electronic heavy metal and may have the heaviest analog synth sound produced by a single synthesizer in history. "Red Rum" tells the story of the cold war to a combined flamenco guitar and DnB style Russian synth line. Songs like "Fire" and "Born Still" weave a path of evolving madness and "Meet the Meat" kinda evokes 80''s New Wave with a much more distorted harder style. "Science Friction" explores the Science vs. Religion debate while evoking classic industrial style and songs like "Throw Me Out" and "You''ve Been Warned" are hard pounding pop songs.
The sheer variety, upbeat but dark mood and depth of this album will make this an intense, enjoyable and enduring listen.
