About the CD...
“Have You Seen Hip-Hop” is a campaign that Reezin has launched on behalf of all Hip-Hop artists (past, present and future) who dedicate their time, talent and resources to making quality Hip-Hop that will advance the Rap genre. Long before I got into the music business, I was a fan. Just like many of you…I’m still a fan and loyal to Hip-Hop but I have grown concerned over the negative direction and diluted definition of Hip-Hop. I feel blessed and honored that one of the most successful music genres ever created originated during my lifetime and I feel obligated to speak up for Hip Hop music.
It’s no secret to listeners or viewers who monitor mainstream media (radio, TV, web) that we “rarely” hear the best that Hip-Hop has to offer. Even though great songs are being created by both major label and independent label artist, most of us will never hear these songs. Instead, we are flooded with negative images of Hip-Hop and allowing non-Hip-Hop artist to call their music Hip-Hop. This campaign is in No Way demeaning present-day Hip-Hop or any artist currently receiving air-play; I’m simply stating that record companies and mainstream media outlets need to broaden the styles of Hip-Hop that they release publicly in order to expose the current generation to all that Hip-Hop has to offer.
Hip-Hop fans are so much more than we’re portrayed to be (money-chasing, sexually active and gangstas). Most of us are students, parents, educated, political, friendly, hard workers, social, fun, religious and in relationships. It’s sad to realize that many fans are now beginning not to trust the quality of Rap music. It’s even more disturbing that our youth are growing up with very limited exposure to true Hip-Hop. This leads us to believe that we are eliminating our next generation of artists and soon our best artists will have no successors. We can’t let this happen. Help me Find and Save Hip-Hop.
How can you help? Hip-Hop fans should demand a higher standard from Hip-Hop artist, record companies and radio stations by supporting and purchasing ONLY the best Hip-Hop. Fans should choose what gets played on the radio stations instead of us being hypnotized by the companies as they play the same 15 songs over and over. Request what you want to hear; buy what you want to buy and support new artist who are doing new things. I am interested in partnering with major labels, media companies and artists to ensure that we begin to move Hip-Hop to a higher standard and increase its value to consumers that will promote more sales, less pirating, broader respect and longevity. Lastly, please do not think that I''m biased toward my CD, I Am Not. If my CD is not what you would like it to be, then do not buy it. It''s more important to me that Hip-Hop advances than for me to sell CD''s. I love this CD and think that you’ll enjoy it BUT…If you buy it and don’t like it, let me know, I’ll refund your money.
Sincerely,
Reezin
