Rap Classics, Inc. is an exciting new company dedicated to exposing previously overlooked classic recordings by independant artists. The first release is this re-issue, previously released on the noe defunct Lil'' Devil Records in 2001. John Cousin aka J.C. recorded these demos between 1997 and 1999. At the time, J.C. was looking to re- enter the rap game after leaving Mr. Tee records in 1994,following a pay dispute. He would later often refer to the small fruitless company as a "crack-head lable". https://www.tradebit.comn enlisted the help of Carlos Stephens(who, ironically, he met through the lable''s owner), a Gretna, La. based producer, who was at the time, an in-house-producer for No Limit https://www.tradebit.com would then catch a 5:30am Greyhound bus from Mandeville, La.,37 miles to New Orleans, and sit in a local McDonalds for a few hours writing lyrics. He would then ride the Gerrimiah Whitney RTA bus across the river to Gretna, La.,finally catching a taxi to Stephen''s recording studio, located in his parent''s home. J.C. was quoted as saying he just wanted to dabble in different styles, so this release leans more on the hardcore https://www.tradebit.comnically,the song that J.C. liked least, "Dr. Death", ended up being the most liked among his core audience. Two years later, however, Cousin would adopt Rastafarianism as his religion; therefore his music took a 180 degree turn and as a result, this release faded into oblivion. After an excellent CD single release, "Bin Laden Must Die!", "Northshore Rasta" was a huge hit with the public. "Word, Sounds And Power" was released in 2004, but suffered from rushed production and lack of distribution. In 2005, shortly after completing his next CD, hurricane Katrina wrecked havoc on the St. Tammany Parish area. J.C., like many others, was forced to re-locate. Katy, Texas became J.C.''s new stomping ground. The CD, Now titled "Katrina Can''t Slow Me Down", was released in 2006. After Rap Classics, Inc. accquired the rights to re-issue this project, it''s available once again!!!!!!
These are early recordings from 1997 to 1999.
