II. Introduction to The Srimad Bhagavad Gita
Srimad Bhagavad Gita is one of the major religious documents of the world. It is also a great scripture of humankind. It forms a part of the Mahabharata, an Indian classical epic composed in Sanskrit.

Bhagavad Gita is widely known for its divine knowledge and highest words of wisdom. It represents not only the essence of the Mahabharata, but also the essence of the Vedas and the Upanishads.

The Gita contains the message of Lord Krishna who is viewed not just as an individual being but as the embodiment of Brahman, the Supreme Reality. Lord Krishna''s message, given in the state of Yoga, brought enlightenment to the deluded hero Arjuna on the eve of the great battle of Kurukshetra.

Though put in the context of a battle scene, the object of the Bhagavad Gita is not war-mongering, but exhorting humanity to do his duty, whatever it may be, in a spirit of detachment and dedication.

Beginning with an exhortation to action, the Bhagavad Gita teaches a universal theology without any sectarian or dogmatic stance. It contains all the essentials of religion and at the same time harmonizes all the different paths towards God-realization.

It is highly philosophical and yet, extremely practical. It discusses the problems of life and suggests how best we can solve those problems and attain perfection.

Blessed are those who would chant, listen to the chanting and study the Bhagavad Gita in a prayerful attitude as by that they would unfailingly be elevated to a higher state of consciousness, irrespective of their religious background.

III. The Power of Sanskrit Chanting
The power of chanting comes not just from the meaning of the syllables, but from their direct vibrational effect on our body’s physiological and energetic systems.

Sanskrit is an energy-based language, and chants and mantras are spiritual formulas for working with this energy. They are designed to eliminate obstacles as we progress spiritually, and to help us make energetic progress toward the good.
