Biography
IF YOU DON’T LIKE GUITAR…..YOU WON’T LIKE ME….
Steven Rivenbark has paid three decades of dues en route to becoming one of the most talked about guitar players around. Starting out as a blues singer and picker in New Orleans at the early age of 15, and then moving into Florida he spent the early ''80s as part of country''s new traditionalist sound before finding success as a contemporary country entertainer. With strong mainstream appeal, he pulled crowds into the lounges he played with his unique voice and Brad Paisley style of guitar playing. That balance made him the kind of performer that people come “to watch”.
Steven was born in Greenville, SC. His father, retired Air force, played trumpet, his grandmother, uncle, aunt and mother played piano. Steven picked up guitar before his teen years; he later added fiddle, dobro, mandolin, slide and bass to his repertoire. In New Orleans he played the blues but he cut his teeth on the Beatles, moved into Skynard and the Allman Brothers then on into country back in the early 80’s when it was pumping. Playing with the best local bands from New Orleans, Florida, Nashville and Jamaica (to name a few) made him the person to have in your band.
Steven to Nashville in 1985 and then on to NC for several years. A trip back to Florida in 1991 led him back to playing with some of his old cronies and he became a Floridian once more. He recently bought his grandfathers home and 10 acres in NC.
He’s presently working his way into the music scene in God’s country, North Carolina.
