BIOGRAPHY
Born & Raised in the House music capital of the world, Chicago Il. Mister Christopher is deeply influenced by the city''s musical traditions of Jazz, Blues, and Underground Dance Music. He grew up dancing to sounds of the first & second waves of Deep House pioneers like Ron Hardy (RIP) Frankie Knuckles and their musical descendants DJ Rush, Gene Hunt, Ron Trent and others.
As a young man, Mister Christopher attended over 12 different schools and lived in at least 10 different neighborhoods. He is used to adapting to new situations and observing what makes people do what they do. Now his feel for people and ability to change make him somewhat of a chameleon and a trickster always ready to mix things up.
This is nowhere more obvious than in his music which manages to be refreshingly playful and dynamic on one hand and seductively minimalistic on the other. He likes to practice Lo-fi urban sound sculpture and ambient groove collage where each element of a song is tweaked and shaped to create synergy with the other elements. Before producing music Mister Christopher danced professionally and continues to choreograph and direct today. He recently won an NAACP award in addition to receiving multiple nominations including an Ovation award for Best Choreography.
His approach and style of music production are probably most influenced by his life as a dancer & choreographer who is as versed at avant-garde post-modern movement as he is Hip Hop. Though fans are quick to comment on how his highly kinetic tracks make you want to move they also comment on how his "Dance" music also makes them see images and feel stories. Mister Christopher calls some of his music Deeptronica for this reason and attributes this to his love and addiction to film. "When you move around as much as I did growing up, it can be lonely. Very quickly you discover your best friend is the movie house. I guess that''s how i would describe my music; cinematic, imaginative, restless with a desire to connect."
