a brief history...
in the late sixties there was a band from north carolina called "the nova local". they were all good buddies making great music. like most great bands, they wanted to record an album with a big record company. so... they packed up their things and moved up to new york city where they quickly got a deal with decca records. their first album came out and it had a groovy little song called "if you only had the time". the song hit billboard magazine''s top 40 list and was quickly moving up the charts. they were surely on their way to universal fame and fortune... but, for reasons we may never know, the band broke up.

we are left with a great album and a great mystery... where are they now? we know of only one member''s story. his name is bill... and he played the drums. after the band broke up, bill moved to connecticut to start a family with his beautiful blonde bride, heidi. bill received numerous calls from bands looking for a drummer. he was wined and dined by the great band "spinal tap" but had a gut feeling that something just wasn''t right.

bill and heidi raised three boys from scratch. they were named adam, jason, and andrew. it is here where we begin to follow jason''s story. jason grew up with a big drum set in the living room of his house. he and his brothers fought over who got to play. they all wanted to play... all the time... and there was only one drum set! so, they learned to share. sharing is good. jason liked to play so much that when he did something bad... the privledge of drumming was taken away. most kids in the neighborhood were denied tv when they got in trouble. but not jason. he liked the drums more than the tv... and his parents were creative disciplinarians.

one day jason went off to college and met a guy named jerry. jerry liked music. so did jason. they both liked music. so... they formed a band and called themselves "life in general". they started to tour and play concerts. they made an album. people liked it. they made another album. they toured some more. people liked it. so they made another album. people still liked it. crazy people!

on a tuesday, while touring the big world, jason played a song for jerry from a cool band from the sixties. the band was called the "nova local"... and jason''s dad was the drummer. jerry liked the "nova local". jerry really liked the song "if you only had the time". he started to sing along. jason started to sing along. they were both singing along. it was lovely.

later that year... bill, the almost spinal tap''s drummer, came to visit jason and jerry while they were in a recording studio with doug williams, the guy who touches all the buttons. it was a sunny day and everyone was happy. bill started playing the drums. jerry started playing guitar. jason started to sing. andrew, bill''s youngest son and jason''s younger brother, started to play the tambourine. before anyone knew what happened, they had recorded a new version of "if you only had the time". "holy moley", everyone said, "that was fun". they laughed and danced and bill took everyone out to dinner. they went to a thai restaurant. the food was great. especially the curried vegatables.

jason and jerry had so much fun recording the song that they recorded another song from the sixties. just for fun. it was fun. so they recorded another song from sixties. it was fun. so they did it again and again. all of a sudden they had a whole bunch of lovely songs recorded. one day jerry said, "this is fun... i wish we could share this fun with everyone". jason replied, "yeah, that would be really cool". so they made an album with all of these lovely fun songs and called the album "the lovely lovely singing".
