Details:
The heart of Dave Daniels Band beats with Dave himself, a gifted musician who embraced all genres of music at an early age. His parents raised him with vinyl records constantly turning, inspiring him to sing and play to folk and rock artists such as The Beatles, Joni Mitchell and Crosby, Stills & Nash. His aunt often babysat him to the music of Soul Train, allowing him to commune with the fantastic soul and R&B music of legends like Stevie Wonder, The Jackson 5 and Prince. As a bored teenager in the small desert town of Borrego Springs, California, he turned to playing music in front of the radio for entertainment, picking out tunes by Tears For Fears and the Stray Cats. Gaining self-taught musical momentum, he decided to hone his craft by pursuing an academic background in music, and would later graduate from college with a degree in music composition and a dream.
The pursuit of his dream of playing music for people while still earning enough to eat landed him in several bands. This gave him onstage experience and camaraderie but left a burning desire within him to explore his own voice with a style that sounded like no other. The Dave Daniels Band was born, and with it the sonic landscapes that reflect his eclectic taste in music.
Some have described the Dave Daniels Band sound as an invigorating blend of rock, folk, and blues, with influences from The Beatles, David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Neil Finn and David Gilmour. You can hear this uplifting fusion swirl in the headphones as vintage and modern guitar sounds come together to form something that is truly unique. As you listen to each tune as a miniature symphony, take note of the blazing electricity of Who Said I’m Gone and Last Man, the artful complexity of Catch Me If You Can and Sundress, the bluesy I’ve Got To Fly and the driving pop/rock of She Waits For No One. The fact that these songs are intermixed with the thoughtful ballads of All In My Mind and Shine On reveals the careful balance of this album - a full course auditory meal when listened to from start to finish.
So the next time you want a little bit of everything to come out of your stereo, put in some Dave Daniels Band – before you know it, you’ll find yourself chanting “Catch Me If You Can!”
