DAVID ROTH
Landslide top vote-getter at the Falcon Ridge (NY) Folk Festival’s “Most-Wanted” competition and NAIRD “Indie” nominee (singer-songwriter album of the year for “Digging Through My Closet”) DAVID ROTH strikes many chords, hearts, and minds with his unique songs, offbeat observations, moving stories, and powerful singing and subject matter. Since emerging from another nationwide field of several hundred songwriters to open the Kerrville (TX) Folk Festival as it’s New Folk Winner, the Chicago native (and two-time national anthem singer for the NBA’s Michael Jordan-era Bulls) has garnered accolades for his performances, workshops, writing, and recordings. Featured on many of Christine Lavin’s Rounder compilations, the former artist-in-residence at New York’s Omega Institute has also been a songwriting judge at Kerrville, Napa Valley (CA), Tumbleweed (WA), Eventide Arts (MA), and the South Florida Folk Festival. In addition to singing “Earth” at the 40th Anniversary of the United Nations, David’s “Rising in Love” was performed at the 100th Anniversary of Carnegie Hall in 1991, and “Manuel Garcia” and “Nine Gold Medals” both appear in the best-selling Chicken Soup for the Soul series by Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen. Noel Paul Stookey (of Peter, Paul & Mary) has performed David’s “Spacesuits” on PPM tours and produced “If You Can’t Fly” (written by David and Chuck Pyle) for his 2002 children’s album “World Around Song”. The BOSE Corporation includes “Taller Than My Hair” and “Five Blind Men” on their “best of new folk” compilations. David’s recorded 7 CDs on the Wind River label (with an 8th and 9th in Germany on Stockfisch Records) and has been living on Cape Cod since 2000 after 8 years in Seattle. https://www.tradebit.com

"I love your albums...though there are some times I can''t find two and two, much less put them together, I''m trying to do both here by congratulating you on some fine writing..."

Ben Cohen Hogeye Folk Arts, Evanston, IL
"We''re pretty new to the whole "folk" phenomenon, and we sometimes don''t feel comfortable with acoustic guitars and nothing else...but David takes the "nice guy singing and strumming" concept and turns it upside down: he''s AMAZING."

"Think of David as a Vance Gilbert who gets to the barber shop more often. Like Vance, David will have us laughing most of the day. He''ll also sing a batch of great songs that''ll have us reflecting on some more serious aspects of our lives....
Tim/Lori Blixt Cabin Concerts, Wayne, NJ

"I really dropped my teeth when I heard a song on the radio that I thought was written by Tom Paxton. When I went around looking for the author is when I heard this dynamic, exciting singer-songwriter come forth...his name is David Roth"
Dave Sear (on NPR''s Folk Almanac)
"We hire some pretty classy talent at San Diego Folk Heritage. David Roth gave a performance that surpassed some of the biggest names in folk music.
I can''t remember when we had a better concert."

Princeton Folk Music Society, NJ
"David''s pure, smooth voice, unsurpassed instrumental ability, incredible humor, and heart-piercing, intelligent lyrics brought a feeling into our concert hall that cannot be described - except perhaps by the word "harmony". It was as if folk music, New Age, comedy club, coffee house, and a bit of heaven had all come together for one evening."
James van Pelt New Haven Folk Alliance
“I am 54 years old and have listened to music my entire life. I love its feeling, emotion, rhythm, desire....and it is certainly unusual for me to write to an artist, but this is an exception. I am in constant search of new music to expand my horizons. However, radio these days does not expose anyone to this, but I recently became an XM Radio listener, and of course I heard them play David Roth. I bought several CD''s and became a fan. I wish I had heard you years ago when I needed my spirit lifted or my foot needed to tap. Your songs are wonderful and I will spread the word of your melodies and stories. Thank You!”
Larry Atkinson, Texas Children''s Hospital
Houston, Texas
“David...thanks for a fabulous concert...my favorite of the season. You have a great way of connecting with the audience so that it feels fresh and original and customized for each audience. Doesn''t hurt that you write great songs and have a great voice. I''d totally recommend you to anyone.”
