His ability to carry on the musical traditions of the masters, yet at the same time put his own personal and indelible stamp on what he plays are what make his artistry such a pleasure to experience.
How Does It Feel? is his latest solo effort and his most ambitious to date. The album celebrates and expresses the broad spectrum of the joys of life and love. The 12 songs are original compositions written, produced, and performed by Porecki who handles all lead vocal and keyboard duties. Embracing modern technology and traditional instruments has given the production of this album the best of both worlds. While providing some very organic and timeless textures, the music was captured in a state of the art recording, making it warm and pleasurable to listen to and absorb.
The album features masterful grooves created by Benjie and top-notch, world class bassists and drummers David Dyson (New Kids On The Block, M''shell Ndegeocello), Gary Grainger (John Scofield), Andre "Blues" Webb (Najji, Bebe & Cece Winans), Greg Grainger (Whitney Houston, Acoustic Alchemy), and Alejandro Lucini (Origem). Tracy Hamlin provides beautifully conceived and executed background vocals on 4 cuts, while Alvin White and Mike Ault seamlessly share guitar duties. A full horn section is blowing on 4 of the tunes, and Alfredo Mojica can be heard throughout, masterfully architecting the percussion tracks.
The goal of creating this album was to make quality music of substance that the listener can feel, embrace, and relate to in a very musical way. In a world that is laden with so many synthetic things, it is essential to enjoy the simple yet immeasurable pleasures that life has to offer to us. Love, romance, the heartbeat of a baby, the love that one has for their spouse and child are a few themes on this album...
