Currently serving as Director of Music and Organist for the First United Methodist Church of Columbus, Indiana, David Kevin Lamb is a graduate of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Completing the Doctor of Music degree in Organ and Church Music in 2000, his other major areas of study included Vocal Performance/Pedagogy, Choral Conducting, and Music Education.
Dr. Lamb''s professional credits as an organist include church music positions in Indiana and Kentucky and guest organ concert performances in Arkansas, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Indiana, Ohio, Kansas, Kentucky, Michigan, New York, Pennsylvania, Washington, West Virginia, and Washington, D.C. European performances include presentations in Austria, Germany, and, most recently, two concerts in France on the Historic Cavaille-Coll Organs in the churches of St. Augustin and La Trinite in Paris.
In addition to more than twenty years of service as choral director in two Indiana high schools, Dr. Lamb has conducted guest concerts in Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, New York, and West Virginia, and he is currently an adjunct instructor of music at Spalding University in Louisville, KY, and an adjunct lecturer of music at Franklin College in Franklin, IN.
As a voice teacher Dr. Lamb has coached singers in Indiana & Kentucky and served for two years as a Master Teacher of Voice for the West Virginia Governor''s School for the Arts at Marshall University. He has directed and conducted over 50 musical theatre productions and has worked as a pit player for both the Derby Dinner Playhouse and the Broadway in Louisville Tour Series. He is a member of the American Federation of Musicians (Louisville Local 11-637).
Dr. Lamb''s professional experiences include work in the realms of concert organist, choral director, church organist, singer, voice teacher, accompanist, pit player, music administrator, public school teacher, college instructor, workshop leader, clinician, and recording artist. A Colleague of the American Guild of Organists, David Lamb is currently the first president of the Indiana Organists United, an alumni affiliate of the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music Alumni Association.
