Biography
In 1972 Darrell Wilson aka "Sax Preacher" began his musical career at Englewood High School in Chicago, IL. Upon graduation he attended the city colleges of Chicago before winding up at Columbia College. Majoring in Arts, Entertainment, and Media Management. This knowledge allowed him to form his own band and travel throughout Chicago during the 70''s and 80''s.
In the 90''s he teamed up with bluesman Roy Hytower aka The Root Doctor, they toured throughout Canada and the United States with a stop in Finland for an entire month. During this tenure Sax Preacher developed his style by playing Blues, Gospel, and R & B. As a front man and Solo Artist, Sax Preacher is best known for his ability to perfectly imitate the human. Sometimes he''s able to make his fans shed tears of joy and sorrow, depending on what song is being performed.
Today the Sax Preacher is presently performing monthly for the Cook County Jail with the Black on Black Love Foundation and doing mostly corporate performances for the Chicago Defender Charities, Chicago Defender Newspaper, and serves as Entertainment Coordinator for the Annual after Parade activities at the Bud Billiken Parade. Also the Citizen Newspaper, Chatham Business Association under the current President William Garth. Currently he''s promoting his New CD''s entitled "Sax in the Key of Life" and the "Soul of the Sax" on T.O.M.A. Records.
