Americana Singer-Songwriter
Raised where the wild huckleberries grow, Sara originally hails from Sumner, Washington, a Tulip Farming town Southeast of Seattle. She grew up riding her Dad''s Seaplane and on the back of his Honda motorcycle. Her mother raised a son and a trio of women and gave each of them a strong backbone and sense of self.
Having played piano from a young age, Sara began playing guitar and soon moved to writing her own songs. With strong roots in country and classic rock, she falls firmly under the genre of Americana. Sara''s inspiration for songwriting comes from fond memories of home and her many travels throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, Western and Eastern Europe.
Two of her songs - Shine Some Heaven and Coming Home - which are on the Tiger Mountain Album made the semi-finals in the 2005 International Songwriting Competition. Also received an honorable mention award for - Coming Home - in the American Songwriter Magazine, and an honorable mention - Shine Some Heaven - in the Great American Songwriting Contest.
Her influences are legends such as Dolly Parton, Loretta Lynn, Merle Haggard, Bob Dylan, Hank Williams, the Beattles and The Rolling Stones. Other influences John Mellencamp, Shelby Lynne, Lucinda Williams, Tom Petty, Lyle Lovett, Gillian Welch, Matraca Berg, Patti Griffin, John Prine.
