Details:
David grew up in Ardsley, NY, a small suburb of New York City. In high school, David was the lead singer and guitarist in the Saw Mill River Band, a rock band he formed with three childhood friends. The band went on to record an album, David’s first, and he was forever hooked on music.
Having been exposed to many different kinds of music as a child, David returned to his Jewish roots while still in high school. As he began to explore Jewish music, David sought to incorporate the soul and passion of the music of his youth into the power and truth of Jewish music. Nearly 10 years later, his first solo album, “The Power To Be”, is his realization of that goal.
"The Power To Be" is an eclectic mix of R&B, rock and soul music, with a world feel and a positive message. His contrast of driving rhythms and powerful instrumentation with sensitive lyrics and soulful vocals is what characterizes his unique sound. Each song delivers a landscape and message all its own. David’s first single, “The Power To Be” was featured on the all-star compilation album Voices for Israel, benefiting victims of terror in Israel. “The Power To Be” has been featured on radio, in concert and on DVD as well.
David’s voice has been described as “a perfect mixture between satin and sandpaper”, with the smooth seamlessness to croon the most sensitive ballad, and the gritty power to belt out a passionate rock melody. His voice has depth and soul, and his vocal creativity and musicality are unparalleled. David’s stage presence will captivate audiences as he reinvents his music with every performance, and his CD will keep you coming back for more.
David is also a record producer, composer, conductor, arranger and educator with international credits and music degrees from Binghamton University and Columbia University.
