Elly is an exceptional singer songwriter based in Oxfordshire but originally from Scotland. Gigging mainly in the West Midlands, London and the South East, Elly’s Band is deservedly and rapidly growing a loyal following. Elly originally moved to Banbury in 2007, where she met and formed her band - Jim Breslin, Tom Bodfish, Nathan Barr, Tim Sole and Dave Allen . Elly’s Band (Formally The Eilidh Forster Band) have been performing together since 2008. Elly’s Band songs have been played on BBC Oxford Introducing and the band is performing at venues such as London''s legendary The 100 Club, (who''s stage has been graced by bands such Kings of Leon, The Rolling Stones, Paul Weller and Beverly Knight), Barfly Camden, the O2 Academy Oxford and The Jam House, Birmingham. Elly’s Band has just finished recording their debut album “First Light” with legendary producer Richard Niles, who has worked with countless artists including Ray Charles, Paul McCartney, Kylie Minogue, Ronan Keating and many more. The album also features performances from Richard Cottle (who has performed with Rod Stewart, David Bowie, Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger) on Keyboard and Maartin Allcock (Fairport Convention, Jethro Tull) on mandolin. Elly writes and records songs in her studio at home. She finds inspiration from experience and the amazing world around her. She is passionate about great lyrics and each song tells a story. The music is sensitively arranged, leaving space for Elly’s beautiful voice to shine. Elly is inspired by the simple and well crafted arrangements of artists such as Norah Jones and by musicians such as Allison Krauss and Union Station. Like many singers her early vocal inspiration came from great artists such as Eva Cassidy, and more recently from American singer songwriter Patty Griffin. Such influences are reflected in Elly''s Band’s style, which was recently described by a fan as ''perfect for a warm sunny sunday afternoon with a glass of wine''. Or by BBC Oxford Introducing as '' really really lovely'' and ''a great way to end the show.'' Elly''s Band songs are catchy and uplifting, even those with sad themes. It is a magical, feel good album. Sitting in the Pop/Folk genre and even with a little Country lick here or there , the real focus is always on beautiful, intimate vocals, warm full sound and great music.
