Following in the footsteps of the immensely successful Homebrew 1 - 5 , Homebrew 6 is destined to be even better.
Homebrew is a very successful concept that we have taken and turned into a package of songs that you would hear on any of the traditional shows that are on our local radio stations, and at kitchen parties all over the province. The range of songs and artists on this CD reflects the broad diversity of talent this province has to offer.
One of the songs on this CD was recorded specifically for this package and is currently only available on this CD. Shanneyganock’s version of the Jud Strunk song “ A Daisy A Day” was popular in the mid 70’s but to our knowledge has never been recorded by any other artist, especially a traditional artist, and is destined to become another classic Shanneyganock song. This song is sure to evoke memories from the baby boomer generation and expose the younger audience to this great song.
Also featured are songs that have had limited exposure outside of the Avalon Peninsula region. “Patty Ryan” by Dungarvan which was written recently by a young fellow (Gerard Murphy) from Marystown and “My Great Uncle Heb” by Rik Barron & Dave Panting are such examples.
As well, this package features some old classic songs. “Heave Away”, “The Northern Lights Of Labrador”, “We’ll Rant & We’ll Roar”, and some newer songs that are becoming classics: “When We Was Boys”, “I Had But 50 Cents” and “Up At The Cabin”. Also featured is the Land & Sea theme from Sandy Morris “On The Beach”.
The diversity of the package is quite broad featuring artists ranging from The Punters, Ray Lake, Shanneyganock, A Crowd Of Bold Sharemen, Terry Penney, Dungarvan, The Fables, Barron & Panting, Wince Coles, Sandy Morris, and RASA.
