Details:
The Jewish Temple in the city of Jerusalem was the house of God--the dwelling place of the Divine Presence. In the time of Jesus Christ, access to the temple worship precinct had restrictions. God-fearing Gentiles were limited to the outer courtyard that bore their name; Jewish woman were allowed closer access in the Court of Woman; and Jewish men could walk through the Nicanor gates to present their sacrifices to the Levitical priests in the Inner Court. Towering above all else was one of the wonders of the ancient world--the Holy Temple. During each day''s worship, only the appointed priests could enter the temple to preform their service. In this holy place hung a massive veil; and behind the veil dwelt the very presence of God in the most sacred place on earth--the Holy of Holies. Human access was impossible, and any intruder died instantly. Under the Old Covenant, no one had direct access to God.
Once a year on the Day of Atonement, the high priest entered the Holy of Holies to make sacrifices for the sins on of the people of Israel. This even had to be repeated annually because animal sacrifices were not sufficient to fully was away sins; they were merely a temporary covering. There would be no permanent removal of sin until God fulfilled His promise to provide a final Sacrifice that would remove sins forever.
Jesus Christ came to fulfill this promise by establishing a New Covenant. By His sacrificial death on the cross, He made complete payment for our sins. Now, if we place our trust in the sacrifice of His Son, God permanently removes our guilt and revokes His wrath against us. Amazingly, we become His friends, and He gives us direct access in His presence of Eternal King without fear of death, because the blood of Jesus has made us totally clean.
The songs from Come Boldly have infused our team with new confidence in their personal relationships with God. Our God is a Father who not only loves us but actually desires that we come to Him whenever a need arises in our lives. He is generous and kind, and He longs to give us His good gifts. We trust that these songs will inspire in you the same confidence that they have inspired in us.
