Details:
Singer/songwriter and Seattle native Margaux LeSourd released her highly anticipated debut EP ''Strange & Beautiful'' on Saturday, February 19, 2011. LeSourd’s music is a direct reflection of her personality: quirky, eclectic composition paired with poignantly straightforward and occasionally ironic lyrics, delivered with warmth, sincerity, and soul.

This debut EP is the first half of a two-part EP series, the latter projected to be released in late summer of this year. “The series is a collection of songs I wrote between my late college years and the fall of 2010,” states LeSourd. “Even though they’re two very different EP’s, I can’t think of them separately. Together, they capture a definitive era of my life that’s made me who I am”. Strange & Beautiful smacks of LeSourd’s jazz influence, but spans a range of sounds, from the latin and disco flavored opening track, “Disco Brazil”,  to “Going Home”, a soulful folk-gospel dedication to her late grandfather.

A former Richmond, Virginia resident of seven years, LeSourd fronted both local powerhouse jazz/funk collective Bungalo 6 and funk/soul jam-band Beast Wellington. In April of 2010 she left the Beast and decided to devote herself completely to her original music. She relocated back to her hometown of Seattle in August of 2010 to be closer to her family and redirect her energies toward writing and recording. LeSourd maintained a long-distance relationship with her Richmond-based backing band (Derrick Englert - bass, Devonne Harris - drums, and Chris Ryan - guitar), and the band laid down their initial tracks for the EP while she was still in Seattle.

The EP also features a few special guests: Daniel Clarke on organ and clavinet (k.d. Lang, Courtyard Hounds, Mandy Moore, Ryan Adams), Mark Ingraham on cornet (Savion Glover, Bio Ritmo, Beast Wellington), Marcus Tenney on tenor sax (No BS Brass Band), and Trey Pollard on pedal steel (Jesse Harper, Modern Groove Syndicate, Ombak).
