Details:
Steeped in a passion for singer-songwriters, with flourishes of pop, psychedelia, and alternative music:
Mike Procyshyn strives to find a balance between the music he loves & his own experiences.
Songs somewhat informed from his hometown of Kenora, Ontario, where he has been performing for over 10 years in a variety of bands.
Self introspective lyrics blending with a touch of the surreal; tales of love gone wrong, drinks in strange cities, low rent hotel rooms, and a cast of bizarre characters form the content for Mike''s musical whims, all mixed in with a touch of his own dry wit.
Recent years have found Mike on stage with an ensemble dubbed ''the comfort in ghosts'', taking their name from Mike''s 2008 release.
The CIGS appeared in venues around Northwestern Ontario, reaching out to Thunder Bay in a hectic few months.
The CIGS recent baby raising hiatus provided Mike the opportunity to record with Jordan McDonald, laying down 7 songs in Mike''s basement studio,
dubbed ''the Fortress of Solitude''. This collection of songs entitled "...the dogs bark at echoes" is scheduled to be released in late April of 2011.
Mike''s musical adventures have found him at the Trout Forest Music Festival, the Fort Frances Folk Fest, the Park Theater in Winnipeg, Pappy''s in Wabigoon, in addition to a multitude of venues in Kenora, Winnipeg, Dryden and Thunder Bay.
In various bands and incarnations Mike has had the privilege to open for:The Junction, The Golden Dogs, The Meligrove Band, The Wooden Sky, Scott Nolan, Sheena Grobb, Joey Only, Pepper Laing & the Lonestar Killers, The Red Informs, Matt Chapeskie, Jordan McDonald, Jon Thompson, Hennessey, and When We Get There.
