Details:
Nat Oliver was born and raised in Memphis, Tennessee. She was born into a family of singers, musicians and her mother, Holly Oliver, is a songwriter. Her parents said the moment she was born and belted out a loud scream that everyone in the delivery room all said at the same time that she was going to be a singer. Nat would listen to her grandmother play classical piano and her mother the guitar and her musicality evolved from her surroundings.

When Nat was 10 years old she belted out a song for her great-grandfather’s birthday. Everyone was shocked at the pipes on such a young child. She sang her first solo in church at 11 years old. Throughout high school she was asked to sing at most school functions. She sang a solo for her graduating class in 2000. Nat’s influences as a child were Mariah Carey, Whitney Houston and Patty Loveless.

Music was a form of therapy growing up. She would sing to lift her spirits. She was also the cut up in the family and the class clown at school. She was voted ‘Class Wittiest’ her Sr. year of high school. So, taking to the stage to showcase her amazing vocals has always been easy. Nat likes to be the center of attention! Nat was thinking ahead of her 10 year high school class reunion and pulled out her old Sr. Memory Book. She saw where she had written where it was that she wanted to be 10 years from 2000. She, of course, had always dreamed of being successful in the music industry.

Nat had been in a couple of bands and she and her mother were both members in a contemporary Christian band, but she wanted to further her career from just local gigs. Her mother had been writing songs for over 35 years and did a cd in 1996 as a singer/songwriter. For many years, friends and family had encouraged both daughter and mother to put their 2 talents together. Nat picked out 10 of her mother’s songs and asked her if they could start recording. Holly was thrilled that Nat wanted her writings to be on the project. The two saved up their pennies and set out to find a studio that suited their needs. They found that studio home in The Noise Factory in Memphis. This is where their journey began to make their dreams come true.
