True Story:
When I first came to Japan my boss took me shopping to get a bike. When we got to the shop they only had Mama Chari bikes and I thought, "I ain''t gonna ride that!" They look so bad; like something from way back in history (funky looking handle bars with a bell and a basket hanging over the front, fenders, chain guard, kick stand, built in lock&key and a light feature). Where were the mountain bikes or bmx looking bikes? Unfortunately I had no choice, so I ended up with a Mama Chari. I hated it at first because of the way it looked, but over time I came to appreciate the convenience of all of its features and accessories. I felt self conscious and worried about people looking at me, then I noticed that it didn''t matter because everyone was riding these bicycles. I still would never ride it if I were in my home country, but while living in Japan it''s my number one choice now. Anyway, this shocking episode inspired me to write this song. So check it out.
