ASPIRATIONS
Ideally, he would love to sign with a major label or a major independent label, but in the event that it doesn''t happen, he will be working to ensure that his name gets recognized by hard work and extreme sacrifice.
EARLY LIFE EXPERIENCES
JB hails from Shreveport/Bossier City, LA. He started out singing at a young age sitting with his grandpa, Alton Waller and his beloved dad, Bruce O. Hendricks. His dad and grandpa would play their guitars in the living room down in Hub Mississippi (right outside of Columbia), while lil JB would sing and dance and rub on his Grandad''s bald head. The soulful sounds that reverberated from that living room would make BB King say, umm umm umm. Down the street, in Hub, JB''s grandmother "Lillie" had a small white church that sat up on a hill. The church was within walking distance so JB would go down and clean the pew''s and sing in the church til he became hoarse.
JB''s dad, "Bruce Sr." was also a military man who was stationed at Barksdale A.F.B. in Bossier City, LA, where he ultimately retired. JB joined the Air Force himself, and was sent back to Barksdale A.F.B. where he resides. As a matter of fact, JB lives within walking distance from his mom (Cora Russell Hendricks) who still lives in Bossier City. His mom grew up with and was really good friends with Blues and R and B greats such as: Johnny Taylor and David Ruffin. JB often talks about how he loves to sit down and listen to his mom''s stories about "Ol J.T. and Dave" in and around Meridian, MS. If you understand where JB''s parents come from, then you''ll really understand why his sound is the way that it is. Basically, He is still just a little country boy at heart. That''s just who the man is. He believes that a man loving a woman with all that he has, is critical in the man''s spiritual growth. A man should do all that he can and let God take care of the rest. If you listened to his first two albums you see that very idea in many of his songs.
JB, THE RECORDING ARTIST
The "Baby Daddy" of Southern Soul: has performed with Calvin Richardson, Rue Davis, Wilson Meadows, T.K. Soul, Captain Jack Watson, L.J. Echols, Rue Davis, and Wilson Meadows to name a few.
The term, "Baby Daddy" of Southern Soul, is a vivid description of who JB has become. He was a single dad for several years. He remained steadfast in his son''s life, like a rock in a Hurricane. He was a "real" dad to his baby. In Southern Soul, "Baby Daddy" refers to "his style and his love of southern soul music" being his "baby" and how Southern Soul music has become a permanent part of his life, just as a child to a dad. So he is its, "Baby Daddy".
He is a dynamic Southern Soul Recording Artist who has released two albums and the third album is to be released in March 2011, entitled, "Pimpin aint easy". JB is very humble and is always looking for friends and d.j.''s who are willing to spin his music. He believes that for any recording artist, that radio play is very difficult to get but once you get it, you got it. Unless your music isn''t that good, then, "not so much".
JB''s 3rd album "Pimpin Aint Easy" is special, not only for him, but most importantly for Southern Soul and Soul listeners. For those of you want a strong album that is top notch, you need to grab this c.d. J.B. has a unique style and is as brilliant a songwriter that there is out there. You can see his influences on much of his material: “Babyface, Isley Brothers, Johnny Taylor, Tyrone Davis, his father, and his mother.
