This is Ballard''s second album, released at the end of the ''1970s. it was a more ambitious undertaking than his first album, adding a band to his heretofore all acoustic sound and more textured production. Among the songs in this set are Painter On The Shore, a perennial live favorite, Famous Dreams, featuring a great sax solo by Norm Tischler, and the title song, Thunderhead, another crowd pleaser in the vein of a Jackson Browne rocker. In addition to Tischler, featured players include Jeff Kerekes on drums, Lewis Frank Misheff Jr. on bass, Mark Shengle on pedal steel and John Bassette and Robin Stratton on backing vocals.
